Pet Supermarket Sun City - Avoid
« on: July 25, 2015, 10:46:59 AM »
Purchased a pair of Rams on Saturday morning.  By Monday evening they were covered in Ick.  Treated them with medicine.  Onc recovered and the other died Wednesday. (4 days after purchase)  When I contacted the store, they only guarantee fish for 72 hours.
We always bought our dog food at Pet Supermarket.  But they have just lost a regular customer.  Shame on them.
If you keep fish, you have been warned.

The moral of this story! Never buy fish from chain stores or the big box stores - as they are not kept properly.

The conditions that they are kept in are wrong and counter productive to the whole aquarium fish industry.  Luckily for you - your whole tank did not get wiped out.

Aquarium clubs like ours the TBAS have great auctions after every meeting that is were you get the fish. You can also ask around at a meeting and you most likely will find others that are breeding the species you are looking for.

The chain, or "big box stores" do not make a profit on live fish because their losses are too high they need to rely on the hard goods that are associated with the hobby for sales profits - they look at live fish as a 'necessary evil"
